The sunflower cake

You will need a 10.2” baking form.

Ingredients:

- 2 cups flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tsp. vanilla sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 4.5 oz butter
- 3.7 oz poppy seeds

Filling:

1 big can of peaches

Topping:

- 2 tbsp. honey
- 3 tbsp. cream
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 tbsp. butter
- 3 oz sunflower seeds

How to:

1. In a bowl mix flour, baking powder, sugar and vanilla sugar.
2. In a separate bowl whip the eggs, milk and softened butter.
3. Pour the liquid mixture into the dry ingredients constantly stirring. Add the poppy seeds and stir again.
4. Pour the batter into a greased baking form and put in the preheated oven (365 degrees). Bake for about 25 minutes.

Meanwhile drain the peaches and cut into nice slices.
For the topping: in a sauce pan heat up the honey, cream and butter. When the sugar is dissolved add the sunflower seeds. Let the mixture simmer a bit – 10 minutes.

After 25 minutes, when you notice the first signes of the pie getting golden (but not earlier!!!) take it out from the oven. Quickly top it with the peach slices arranged in circle. Leave the center hollow and distribute there with a spoon the hot topping. Stick the pie back into the oven and bake for another 15-20 minutes. Let it cool and serve.
